With little time to write this week I thought I would share some things I’ve seen, read and enjoyed lately.
Conversations with Friends
Conversations with friends is the screen adaptation of Sally Rooney’s debut novel. I haven’t read any of Rooney’s work but the show made me want to. I appreciate it may be too slow going for some, but I personally loved the slowness, the quietness, and the at times, awkwardness. If you enjoy plots with complex, relatable characters, difficult situations and complicated relationships, it’s definitely worth the watch.
My Place - Series by Nowness
A series of videos exploring the homes of creatives and others. A few of my favourites:
Stephanie Gilmore - Malibu Beach House
Tom Bianchi - Palm Springs, California

Standing Ashtray by Houseplant
I love the design of this standing ashtray. Houseplant was co-founded by Seth Rogan and is a brand built around delivering an elevated smoking experience. They produce a range of beautiful objects for those for those seeking a more refined approach to cannabis culture. Described on the site as “the ashtray that stands so you can sit,” the structure is made from walnut and solid brushed brass, with a removable, cleanable ashtray made of borosilicate glass.
Sourcing Inspiration
I’ve been saving a lot of imagery on instagram lately and have been trying to remember to post on the Field Trip instagram account (which I’m not great at yet) but will hopefully start to keep up with more. Follow along for sporadic doses of design inspiration.
