Great writing! I can relate to feeling lonely in a hotel room, even though I'm surrounded by people. It's like everyone is in their own little world, and it can be hard to break into.

Back in the 1990s, it was more common to strike up conversations with strangers, but these days, everyone is busy with their phones. I still remember the time I was sitting in a hotel lobby in Utah, and I started talking to the woman next to me. We ended up chatting for hours, and we're still friends today.

I think it's a shame that people are less likely to talk to each other these days. We're all so busy and distracted, but I think it's important to make time for human connection. Even a brief conversation can make a difference.

If you're feeling lonely in a hotel room, I encourage you to try to reach out to someone. It doesn't have to be a long or deep conversation. You could simply ask for a recommendation for a restaurant or a tourist attraction, or compliment someone's outfit or their taste in books. Just be genuine and friendly, and you might just make a new friend.
